As 2015 is the year Marty McFly travelled to and famously rode a Hoverboard in Back to the Future Part 2, Lexus went to the drawing table and developed an advanced prototype called SLIDE that uses magnetic levitation.

More specifically, liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets combine to achieve frictionless movement. Naturally, the SLIDE features the brand's signature spindle grille shape and uses materials found in Lexus cars, even natural bamboo.

There are very few details available about the SLIDE at this point. It is part of the fourth project in the Lexus ‘Amazing in Motion’ campaign, and testing will be taking place in Barcelona, Spain, over the coming weeks.

Too bad it's not for sale...
