When manufacturing, driving and recycling rhyme with efficiency and eco-friendliness
French automaker Renault introduced its Logan "Renault eco2" Concept. This experimental vehicle is set to participate in Michelin's Challenge Bibendum in Shanghai, China, from November 14 to 17.
No less than 40 percent of the entire Renault lineup bears the "Renault eco2" signature. To qualify, vehicles have to comply with three criteria:
The Logan Renault eco2 Concept is powered by a B30-compatible 1.5 dCi engine that produces 85 horsepower. In order to increase the output of this engine, Renault worked relentlessly to lower the car's drag coefficient from 0.36 (production model) to 0.29 (concept) by adding a Vortex generator, a flexible splitter under the front bumper, wheel fairings and a rear lip spoiler.
In terms of fuel economy, the concept's performance is improved thanks to low-friction Michelin 185/65R15 tires. The braking system has also been optimized to further reduce driving resistance. The resulting fuel economy is an impressively low 3.8 L/100 km.

- they must be produced in an ISO 14001-certified factory;
- they must emit less than 140g of CO2/km, or else run on biofuel (97 g/km for the Logan Concept);
- they must be reusable by 95 percent at the end of their lifecycle, while at least 5 percent of their plastics must be sourced from recycling (8.3 percent for the Logan).
