Audi used the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show to introduce the prologue concept car, which foreshadows Audi's future design direction and shows what an A9 grand coupe may look like. It's shorter and flatter than the current A8 with a length of 5.10 meters, width of 1.95 meter and height of 1.39 meter.

“When he moved to Audi, Marc Lichte launched a design offensive,” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Development, who brought him to Ingolstadt in 2014.

“His clear philosophy and precise understanding of Audi DNA let him develop a design strategy that is opening up entirely new perspectives for us. It is progressive and highly emotional; it expresses the technological competence and quality claim of the brand perfectly. The Audi prologue is its first proponent – it is a ‘signature car’ for Audi.”

The two-door Audi prologue can seat four people in a state-of-the-art cabin that's based on Gran Turismo design and enables both very sporty driving and relaxed touring.

Outside, the massive Singleframe grille has been widened much more and is positioned lower than on today’s production models. The headlights are located with their tips above the grille and feature high-resolution Matrix laser technology, while the taillights use LEDs. Other exterior highlights include 22” wheels and a gloss back aluminum rear diffuser.

As for the powertrain, the Audi prologue houses a 4.0L twin-turbocharged TFSI V8 engine that produces 605 horsepower and up to 553 lb-ft of torque with the overboost function, allowing 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 3.7 seconds. Per European standards, combined fuel consumption is rated at 8.6L/100km.
