Volkswagen will host the North American premiere of the GTI Roadster and Golf R 400 concept next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

First presented in May at Austria's Wörthersee festival, the Volkswagen GTI Roadster is a show car that was originally created as a purely electronic CGI entity for the Sony PlayStation3 classic "Gran Turismo 6". This two-seat convertible is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 503 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque via a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. It can sprint from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in an estimated 3.5 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 309 km/h.

Aesthetically, the Volkswagen GTI Roadster sports Gran Turismo Red metallic paint, 20" wheels, and trapezoidal dual exhaust tailpipes (with GTI badging) that are positioned in the middle of the car above the diffuser. Adding to the layered look at the back are the narrow three-dimensional lights and the big spoiler above it.

Meanwhile, the Golf R 400 concept develops 394 horsepower from a 2.0L TSI engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and AWD. This little bomb can get to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and maxes out at 280 km/h.

The Golf R 400 received modifications to the bumpers, body, wheel arches, and cabin. For now, no series production is planned.
