We now have the latest on the new Lotus Elise Club Racer, which has been specifically engineered to deliver sportier handling both on the road and the track.

One word to describe it – barebone.

The company put the Elise on a diet. A lighter, race-inspired battery and reduced sound insulation are some of the solutions that helped shave 24 kilograms off the standard car's weight.

The Lotus Elise Club Racer also boasts a sport chassis consisting in Eibach springs, Bilstein shocks, an adjustable front antiroll bar and a new vehicle control system called Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) which maximizes road-holding capacity.

DPM actually includes hydraulic brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, electronic locking differential, cornering brake control, antilock brakes and traction control.

The Lotus Elise Club Racer, which emits a mere 149 grams of CO2 per kilometre, will start at 34,450 euros.
