Making its global debut today at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new 2017 Mercedes-AMG S63 4MATIC Cabriolet “Edition 130” celebrates the 130th anniversary of the invention of the automobile by Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler. Only 130 copies will be built and sold worldwide.
In terms of performance, the S63 4MATIC Cabriolet “Edition 130” uses a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, along with an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system to accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.
Outside, the Alubeam Silver paint finish hadn’t been used since the 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Exterior highlights also include a custom red fabric top and 5-twin-spoke 20” forged alloy wheels (typically reserved for V12 S-Class models). The exclusive Nappa leather upholstery in Bengal red/black as well as trim elements in AMG carbon fibre/piano lacquer black further underscore the special position of this limited-edition model.
Every customer will receive a tailor-made AMG Indoor Car Cover with the embroidered lettering "Edition 130 – 1 of 130" to protect this valuable vehicle from dust in their garage. Furthermore, at the handover of the keys the customer receives a Welcome Package with an "Edition 130" badge key ring and an aluminum box for the car’s key.
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG S63 4MATIC Cabriolet "Edition 130" will be available at U.S. dealers in the late spring 2016. Canadian availability has yet to be announced.
