On January 29, the 125th anniversary of the invention automobile, Mercedes-Benz took the opportunity to announce the start of the F-CELL World Drive, a worldwide expedition where three of its fuel-cell vehicles will cross 4 continents and 14 countries over 125 days.

The automaker is looking to demonstrate the mechanical maturity of this technology as well as the suitability of its vehicles for everyday use. The world tour will also highlight the incredible challenge of establishing hydrogen-supplying infrastructures to recharge the vehicles.

Only 200 such charging stations exist worldwide. Mercedes-Benz is organizing several activities in an attempt to build a solid foundation with energy providers and governments, facilitating the construction of charging stations while educating the public about electric mobility.

In North America, the tour will stop in several locations on the west coast of the United States en route to Vancouver, where the convoy will board a plane for Australia.
