Is it a coupe? Is it an SUV? Even better, it's both! The all-new 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe directly targets the BMW X6 and Infiniti QX70. While its public debut, on-sale date and pricing have yet to be confirmed, chances are this model will appear at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January.
The GLE Coupe will offer diesel and gasoline engines ranging from 258-333 horsepower. The sportier GLE 450 AMG Coupe will produce 367 horsepower. All models will use a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, but only the AMG variant will be available with DYNAMIC SELECT, which offers five driving modes including Comfort, Slippery, Sport, Sport + and Individual.
In terms of design, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe rides on a massive set of wheels ranging from 20”-22” and sports a rectangular front grille accompanied by three large intakes and thin headlight clusters. In the back, the look is reminiscent of the S-Class Coupe with tridimensional, wraparound taillights.
The interior of the GLE Coupe seats five and features sport seats along with a small sport steering wheel. The infotainment functions already included in the new C-Class, E-Class and S-Class are all present, while the 8-speaker sound system can play 20 discs.
Options will include a panoramic glass sunroof as well as the latest generation of COMAND Online with an 8” TFT display and intuitive touchpad.
