Driving the Sprinter is almost an experience in itself. Climbing behind the wheel, I immediately noticed the incredible visibility provided by the huge glass area. Steering sits at a pretty straight angle but it can't be adjusted. The seat, however, can be adjusted manually in many ways including tilt and length of the base. It might feel hard at first but it should prove to be very supportive and ergonomically better than the competition's. Instrumentation is well placed and easily readable. Firing up the diesel engine was a simple operation that did not require pre-heating the glow plugs (probably because we tried the truck in Florida). To pass in gear, the lever is placed in the center of the dashboard. The "Drive" position can also be used as a Sportshift by which the driver might want to choose what gear he needs (starting in second gear on snowy grounds in winter is then an easy task). Huge power mirrors are adjustable by a switch on the driver's door and front door windows are also electrically powered. But no "express down" seems to be available. The usual wiper and flasher stacks are well placed on the steering column but I still dislike the traditional M-B-style cruise control stack that I often confuse with the flasher stack.

The interior is very well designed and built. There is sufficient space under the seats to place small luggage, like in a plane. A holder was provided on my test vehicle to install a fire extinguisher (though it was missing in my Sprinter). The door open wide to access the seats at the front and the exercise requires no acrobatics. The rear compartment is reached by a large right side sliding door that is not always easy to close from the inside. Seat configuration went like this: two front individual seats, a three passenger second row bench, a two-passenger third row bench and a fourth three-passenger bench. And there was enough space left in the rear for the luggage.
