It won't be just the second generation Mini Cooper in the spotlight at the North American International Autoshow, because the carmaker has
announced the world debut of a new package available for the current-generation models.
It's called the Sidewalk package, and its job is to add more substance and character to the Mini ownership experience for buyers after a bit of added exclusivity.
Included on the package, which is available on the Cooper or Cooper S convertible model (although only the Cooper S will be sold in Canada), are special lightweight alloy wheels, distinct trim and malt-colored English leather
upholstery. The steering wheel, also wrapped in leather, integrates multi-function controls as well. Sidewalk designated models also come with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), chrome trim, and a Harmon / Kardon stereo.
For Mini Cooper S duty, the Sidewalk package includes larger 17-inch Nightspoke wheels and Xenon headlamps (standard on all S models) for crisp illumination and a more pronounced nighttime presence.
The package goes on sale this spring in Canada, though in other international markets, it will be sold as an individual model.
Looking for added value and character for your upcoming Mini? If so, Sidewalk will relieve you of a few thousand dollars, but no pricing has yet been confirmed for the Canadian-market versions.
