Though the Montreal Auto Show received plenty of hype for all the new hybrids, sports cars and crossovers presented there, it's also being recognized for helping out various charities in the process.

The Montreal International Auto Show Charity Preview took place January 15th and managed to raise some $343,305 to benefit five organizations within Montreal's medical community.

The event, sponsored and presented by the Montreal Automobile Dealers Corporation Foundation and the Palais des congrès de Montréal, will see the Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation, the Pierre-Boucher Hospital Foundation, the Foundation du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal, the McGill University Health Centre Foundation and the Santa Cabrini Foundation benefit from the funds.

Officials say that over $1,443,305 has been donated since the charity preview started in 2005. This year's event was well attended by the automotive and arts communities, and actor Raymond Bouchard was the spokesperson.

Mr. Stéphane St-Louis, 2009 Montréal International Auto Show President, commented "over the past five years, the money raised has greatly helped support Montreal's medical community. Once again this year, we are very proud to be able to help five foundations whose hard work and dedication remain essential to the health and well-being of everyone within the Greater Montreal community."
