Montréal Auto Show: Toyota

The company's bestsellers get a much-deserved redesign.Bigger, more refined, the 2009 Corolla and Matrix will soon be on sale.

The base models keep their 1.8-liter inline-4 that develops132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices remain a 5-speed manual or4-speed automatic. The sporty XRS models return this year, and are powered by a2.4-liter engine that produces 158 hp and 162 lb-ft, mated to 5-speed gearboxes,manual or automatic.

2009 Toyota Matrix

Toyota'scurrent full-size SUV is big, but the next-generation version is even bigger.Based on the new Tundra pickup truck, the new 2008 Sequoia offers a choice oftwo V8 engines: a 276-hp 4.7-liter and a 381-hp 5.7-liter. Maximum towingcapacity is 4,536 kg (10,000 lbs).
