On Friday, August 24th, we gave you some inside scoops about the hot new Volkswagen Golf. Now that the seventh-generation model has made its official debut in Berlin, we can tell you more about it.
As previously reported, the VW Golf is 100 kg lighter and up to 23% more fuel-efficient than the outgoing generation. In fact, the company announced a rating of just 3.2L/100km for the Golf BlueMotion.
Incidentally, buyers will have a choice of four engines with standard stop/start and battery regeneration – two gasoline engines (85 and 140 hp) and two diesels (105 and 150 hp). Their availability remains unspecified, however.
The seventh-generation Golf is 5.6 cm longer (all in the wheelbase) and 1.3 cm wider. It also boasts a more flowing roofline for improved aerodynamics.
