Well, another tie. Between two Toyotas. The 4Runner got the highest rating of any consumer vehicle this year, but it’s got company. It’s sharing the top spot on the podium with its mid-size sedan sibling. Good interior room, an efficient hybrid powertrain and comfortable seats all ‘round are the orders of the day here.

The 4Runner may be getting a little long in the tooth, but that hasn’t prevented it from impressing both drivers and Consumers’ experts as it scored the highest of any consumer vehicle this year. Pretty impressive for a vehicle of the 4Runner’s, ahem, vintage but that’s what happens when you’ve got an almost bulletproof AWD system, tough-as-nails-looks and easy-to-operate controls.
