I even spoke to a couple of tourists! Well, let’s just say “we communicated” as I’m not what you’d call fluent in Italian or German. Nevertheless, the universal language of automobiles bridged most of the gaps for us and anyone on holiday likes to see a man with a camera in his hand.

General Motors had rather a large display in one of the busiest locations, the food hall, and appeared to be receiving quite a lot of attention with its Cadillac and Buick models. The same could be said for Mitsubishi and Tesla with their electric vehicles, but I guess that’s not surprising given the downtown location.

The Jaguar, Land Rover and Porsche displays also seemed to be popular with visitors and as the vehicles were open, there was rarely a seat to be had in any of them.

All in all, I’d say that the event’s first year was a roaring success and I would expect to see it return next year, but perhaps on a greater scale. I hope so, as this truly is the perfect setting in which to peruse fine automobiles. In fact, it’s just the place to sit and sip your espresso whilst trying to decide between the Porsche and Jaguar, and I’m not just talking stocks and shares there!
