Yours truly is no fan of Ford's MyFord Touch interface system. My latest patience contest resulted in my having to reboot my 2012 Edge tester because the entire system froze on me. As well, I could not interact with the controls as I was wearing gloves in Februay; I can deal with this issue with my iPhone but not in a car...

Wisely, Ford has introduced a software upgrade for the system. Loaded on a USB key, the package is shipping as you read these lines. That's not all you'll be waiting for...

In the 21st Century, a 5-minute video is bordering on a documentary. If your blog or website takes more than 0.0068 seconds to load, shut it down now. We have no patience whatsoever for things that take time, unless we're watching Supernatural or Big Bang Theory. Even so, many PVR the shows to zip through the commercials.

Ford figures that you won't mind waiting an HOUR for the update's upload in your MyFord Touch equipped Ford product. Think you can just plug it in and walk away? You can but be warned that the car has to be running the whole time. “No problem, I'll go for a drive.” Great idea, however, bring your iPod if you want music and some layers of clothing, depending on where you live. Why? Because the climate and audio controls cannot be changed.

The saving graces are that you do not need to go to a dealership to do the update and that MyFord Touch 2.0 is being touted as a HUGE improvement over 1.0. For Ford and all the dinero they've dumped into the interface, I hope this to be true.
