NASCAR Canadian Tire: LP Dumoulin takes pole at GP Trois-Rivieres

Trois-Rivieres native Louis-Philippe Dumoulin celebrated his homecoming with his first career pole position in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series for the JuliaWine.com 100 at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.

Dumoulin, the 2011 series rookie of the year and now a teammate with two-time series' champion Scott Steckly, put down the fastest lap during group qualifying by just .011 seconds over J.R. Fitzpatrick.

Dumoulin had a lap of 1m7.821s around the street course. Fitzpatrick was just slightly slower at 1m7.832s but also earned a spot on the front row for today's race.

Andrew Ranger qualified third at 1m7.839s and Steckly was fourth. Points leader DJ Kennington, who enters the weekend with a five-race win streak, qualified fifth.

Ron Beauchamp Jr. was sixth, followed by rookies Martin Roy and Elie Arseneau. Robin Buck and Jean-Francois Dumoulin rounded out the top 10.
