Carl Edwards Country and Western star?
Not so fast.
On Saturday night NASCAR’s Sprint Cup points leader will make his debut in the music video “Bait a Hook,” by Justin Moore on the World’s Largest HDTV screen at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Edwards has a cameo appearance in this video which pokes fun at someone who can’t even bait a fishhook. In the video the joke is on the singer as Edwards gets the job done and even has a beautiful woman land in his lap adding insult to Moore’s injured pride.
Even if he appears for only a couple of seconds the preparations and number of retakes of shots took some time.
“Half the day I was driving around the lake on this boat, it was a blast. I’d pull up, and then the director would ‘let’s try it again’ and I’d drive around the lake. But it was fun,” Edwards told Auto123.com.
Moore said in a statement “Carl's a great guy. It was a blast having him in the video. I appreciate him doing it,” said Moore.
“Hopefully, some Justin Moore fans will become Carl Edwards' fans, and Carl Edwards' fans will become Justin Moore fans."
“Justin is a great guy and a true race fan,” Carl Edwards said.
There was just one hurdle for the NASCAR driver to overcome, and it wasn’t about fishing or singing. How did Edwards’ wife, Kate, feel about her husband with his arms around a beautiful actress?
“I ran it by Kate before even considered doing it so it’s okay,” Edwards said.
Carl Edwards is known for daring stunts, but, appearing in this video, is it a new direction for him?
“Another career No, no I’d be lucky to be a back up guy,” he said.
