Following the arrest of two Earnhardt Ganassi Racing crew members for narcotics trafficking they have been fired by EGR and indefinitely suspended by NASCAR.

Trevor Lysne, a front-tire changer for Juan Pablo Montoya's No. 42 Sprint Cup team, and Jerome Frey, a mechanic, were charged with possession and trafficking of 10.5 pounds of marijuana by the Huntersville, N.C. Police Department.

Although they were released on bail the two crew members were fired by EGR officials.

"I am extremely disappointed with the news that we received about two of our crew members," team co-owner Chip Ganassi said in a statement.

"We have a zero tolerance policy in this organization and effective immediately both individuals' employment has been terminated."

NASCAR reacted swiftly in accordance and announced that it “indefinitely suspended crew members Jerome Frey and Trevor Lysne, both of whom worked with the No. 42 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the substance abuse policy) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book.”

Under NASCAR policy the arrest was sufficient to trigger the suspension.
