Last June it was announced that the owner of energy drink Red Bull would leave NASCAR at the end of this season.
Red Bull Racing Team is owned by Dietrich Mateschitz. The team is based in Mooresville, North Carolina and is managed by Jay Frye. The team runs Toyota Camrys and their drivers are Kasey Kahne and Brian Vickers.
Without the support of Red Bull, the team is for sale.
It appears that former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve is interested in buying the team and to become one of the full-time drivers.
Auto123.com contacted Villeneuve's manager Rick Gorne who did not deny the rumor.
“There have been discussions with Red Bull but that is all it has been, discussion,” Gorne told us.
“We are currently evaluating other opportunities in NASCAR for Jacques also,” he added.
