Canadian Andrew Ranger will be in Phoenix this weekend to take part in the NASCAR K&N West Series’ season opener in what should be a pretty busy stock-car season for him.

Even though Ranger will run the full season in the K&N East division, this race in Phoenix will allow him to start his season a bit earlier and put behind him his recent troubles at the All-Star Showdown.

For the Canadian, the Phoenix speedway is a difficult track to master because the two turns are different and finding the proper set-up is not easy. Still, Ranger is quick to point out that he did well when he last raced there back in November, running as high as 6th place before he hit engine troubles.

Two practice sessions are scheduled on Thursday and qualifications will be held in the afternoon. Green flag for the 3 Amigos Organic Blanco100 is scheduled for 4:30pm today.

UPDATE

First practice session
Andrew Ranger, 7th place, 28.782s, 125.078 mph
Final practice session
Andrew Ranger, 2nd place, 28.453s, 126.524 mph
