Nelson Piquet Jr. did not have a great performance in yesterday's truck race, finishing 30th after an incident with Timothy Peters on lap 55. He had started in ninth.
But, Piquet and his Kevin Harvick Inc. team did a good deed supporting Red Cross efforts to take care of the victims of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami.
While all the Toyota teams have had a decal since the catastrophy, it was a bit of a rarity for a Chevrolet team.
Three weeks ago in Darlington, after the first earthquake and Tsunami hit, Nelson Piquet Jr.’s Chevrolet Silverado was the first truck to display a decal in support of Japan.
This week, the No. 8 team will go one step further by supporting the American Red Cross’ earthquake and Pacific tsunami response efforts.
Piquet, the son of Nelson Sr. the Formula One World Champion said: “I always try to help out, I think every little bit we can do help in these kind of things.
“I did the same for Brazil when we had the disaster there. Doing the same now. It’s something easy for us to do I think it’s common sense.”
