In reaction to the news coming out of NASCAR and related sources Brian Vickers is pumped up for next month’s Daytona 500.

Not only are there proposals to swap the rear wing for a return to spoilers, but a larger restrictor plate and new bump-drafting permission could bring back the “race” in racing.

Vickers, posting on his Facebook page, said “I wanted to follow up the previous post and the questions you all have about the rule changes. Here is what I am excited about: The spoiler coming back and larger restrictor plate is going to be great for competition. Bump drafting is going to be allowed! If you want to ride in the back, fine. If you want to race up front- LETS GO!”

A larger restrictor plate means a larger venturi opening, allowing more fuel and air flow, in an effort to boost horsepower, torque and throttle response

The Red Bull Toyota driver who made the Chase for the first time last year said competition is back in the driver’s hands now.

“All the drivers need to stop complaining and start racing- but if we see a bad call or something is not right- SAY IT! We need to police ourselves out there. If we don't like something about the way we are being raced-speak up! The goal in all of this is to bring the fire and passion of racing back to all of us- the drivers, the teams and especially the fans!”
