Canadian NASCAR driver Patrick Carpentier will take part in the Nationwide NAPA 200 race in Montreal this coming August according to sources well informed. This would be the first race that Carpentier takes part in since he left Gillett-Everham last year.

Carpentier is set to drive the No 99 Toyota Camry of Michael Waltrip Racing on circuit Gilles Villeneuve where he previously finished second both times in 2007 and '08. The former Champ Car and IRL driver even scored a pole on his first ever outing in Nationwide.

The No 99 Camry is usually driven by either Michael Waltrip himself or Scott Speed and according to crew chief Jerry Baxter, Carpentier could also be asked to drive in more than one race, Watkins Glen being one of them.

Both Patrick Carpentier and his manager Robert Desrosiers have refuse to comment the news when contacted but an official announcement could be made in the coming weeks.
