Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman is expected to be confirmed today as part of the new Stewart-Haas Racing team for the 2009 season. Newman will join the newly formed team to become the new teammate of champion and friend Tony Stewart to drive the No.4 Chevrolet.
Newman announced last month that he was leaving Penske Racing at the end of the season, ending a nine-year relationship.
Newman's decision to move to Stewart Haas will put him in an awkward position for 2009 as he will have to qualify on speed for the first five races, given that his future entry is currently outside the top-35 in the Sprint Cup owner standings.
