Kyle Busch’s teammate, Denny Hamlin says he’d help his teammate, but, not for a victory.

Tonight’s Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway will determine the final qualifiers for NASCAR’s playoffs the Chase to the Sprint Cup. Multi-car teams raise the question, how far will a driver go to help a teammate?

Team orders have been accepted with a nudge-nudge, wink-wink in Formula One for decades. That is until Nelson Piquet, Jr. admittedly revealed he purposely crashed, in a race, in scheme to allow his then teammate, Fernando Alonso to take avictory.

Last week, in an NHRA race Indianapolis, Tony Pedregon accused Funny Car legend John Force of purposely losing to Force’s son-in-law, Robert Hight, which knocked out his brother, Cruz Pedregon, from moving to the playoffs.

That begs the question, could it happen tonight in Richmond?

Denny Hamlin is a Virginia native, racing in his home state, and looking for an emotional home town win and the ten bonus points in the playoffs. His teammate, Kyle Busch, winner of the spring race here, and just outside the playoffs, may need a win tonight to make it into the Chase.

Hamlin said he would only go so far "Not a win. I’d give him, Kyle, second if I was second but not a win for sure. That’s about all you can do. If you’re not racing for a win and it puts him over the top, yeah you’re going to give up a position."
