It was one of those typical NASCAR restrictor plate finishes at Daytona Saturday evening at the Coke Zero 400 as Tony Stewart (Chevy No 14) fought it off with ex-teammate Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) as both led the most laps of the evening event.
On the very last lap, Busch passed Stewart and tried to block him to the finish line. Both cars touched sending Busch into the air, hitting the wall before falling back on the track and being hit again by many cars including Kasey Kayne's No 9 Dodge and Joey Logano's No 20 Camry.
The finish line quick became an incredible wrecking field with many cars ending up one into the other.
Stewart was credited with victory but apologized for the way the race ended. Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) came in second followed by Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11) who was striking all night long, Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) and Kurt Busch (Dodge No 2).
As for Kyle Busch, he was credited with the 14th place. Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Camry No 36) had to settle for the 42nd place.
Championship positions remain the same for the first five, Stewart still leading followed by Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24), Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers will race next Saturday at the Chicagoland Speedway.
