As expected, the NASCAR All-Star 100-lap contest was pretty quiet until the very last 10-lap segment run Saturday evening at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

At some eight laps from the end, everything went wild as Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24) was about to pass then leader Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) when Ryan Newman (Chevy No 39), coming out of nowhere, tried to get the lead and squeezed in making a three-car wide situation.

That is when Jeff Gordon, being hit, lost control of his car, sending it into the wall and provoking a yellow-flag situation!

The restart was all about Kyle Busch, but Matt Kenseth (Ford No 17) rapidly and easily passed him.

A yellow-flag situation slowed everyone down once again with five laps to go. Kenseth got a great restart but third-place Tony Stewart (Chevy No 14) finally got under him and passed him with two laps to go!

Stewart kept Kenseth behind him and won the $ 1,000,000 NASCAR All-Star race (that, incidentally, does not count for the Championship)! This was Stewart's first ever win as a team owner.

Kenseth came in second followed by Kurt Busch (Dodge No 2), Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11), Carl Edwards (Ford No 99), Mark Martin (Chevy No 5), Kyle Busch (Camry No 18), Joey Logano (Camry No 20 who was "Voted" in the race), Jamie McMurray (Ford No 26) and Dale Earnhardt (Chevy No 88).

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series will resume its regular program still at the Lowe's Motor Speedway next Sunday afternoon for the Coca Cola 600.
