Brian Vickers (Camry No 83) was the fastest in practice at the Michigan International Speedway for Sunday's 3M Performance 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race on Friday afternoon and he backed this up by putting his Camry on pole position later on.

He thus bumped Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) who was credited with the second starting position followed by Elliott Sadler (Dodge No 19).

As for Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10) he posted the sixth time!

Series point leader Kyle Busch (Camry No 18), he will start from the 11th place. Only Johnny Sauter (Chevy No 08) was not able to qualify.

As for Brad Coleman, the young man replaced J.J. Yeley at the wheel of the No 96 Camry but he will start 43rd and last.

By the way, Ryan Newman (Dodge No 12) officially announced this Friday that he will drive for Stewart-Haas next season.
