In an effort to curb air pollution across the city, authorities in New Delhi, India are mulling a ban on large-displacement (2.0L or more) diesel cars and trucks, according to BBC

On Wednesday, the local Supreme Court will announce a ruling, which could target SUVs and big luxury sedans from such companies as Toyota and BMW. Judge T. S. Thakur has severely criticized automakers, claiming that they only think about selling cars while people’s lives are at risk.

Over 8.5 million vehicles roam the streets of New Delhi, and that number is apparently growing by 1,400 every day.
