GMC has taken the proven reliability and capability of the Duramax diesel powertrain and Allison transmission to new levels for 2011, meaning best-in-class horsepower and torque while also delivering significant improvements in fuel economy, quietness and emissions – all for $9,670.

Thanks to the powertrain enhancements and an all-new, fully-boxed, high-strength steel frame for maximum utility and exceptional ride characteristics, customers will enjoy best in segment towing capability (up to 9,863 kg / 21,700 lbs.) and segment-leading payload (up to 3,015 kg / 6,635 lbs.) together with the latest technology in driver confidence and control, such as trailer sway control, a ‘smart’ exhaust brake, hill start assist and more.

“With its powerful, best-in-class diesel engine, the new Sierra HD models lead the segment in towing and hauling capabilities, a key consideration for customers in this demanding segment,” said Santo Giardina, truck marketing manager in Canada. “Whether used for the toughest of work requirements or for recreational towing or trailering, GMC HD customers will appreciate the impressive combination of leading utility and premium features.”

The Sierra Denali HD is available as a 2500HD or 3500HD 4WD crew cab. The iconic Denali four-bar, chrome grille with round air inlets distinguishes it on the outside, along with body-colour bumpers, chrome door handles, chrome accents and 18- and 20-inch polished forged aluminum wheels.

The 2011 Sierra HD lineup has expanded to include eleven 2500HD models and eight single- and dual-rear-wheel 3500HD models offered in WT, SLE and SLT trim levels. A new and larger 136 litre (36-gallon) fuel tank is standard on all models. Combined with highway fuel economy improvements up to 11 percent over the previous model, GM testing indicates that the Sierra HD’s, equipped with the Duramax diesel,(now B20 biofuel capable), can have a highway range up to 1,090 km. GMC also continues to offer the segment’s best warranty coverage in Canada, with a five-year/160,000- limited powertrain warranty.
