Maybe it was inevitable. Volkswagen today announced the new 2017 #PinkBeetle, the first car ever to use a hashtag as a name. This limited-run model will go on sale in the U.S. this fall after premiering as the Beetle Pink Color Edition concept at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
Coupe and convertible variants will be offered. Pricing and Canadian availability have yet to be announced.
As the name suggests, the 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle is all pink except for the mirror caps, wheels, and most parts of the interior. Under the hood is a 1.8L turbocharged TSI engine with direct injection and a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Technology is a big part of the package with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, MirrorLink, a 6.3” touchscreen, keyless entry with push-button start, a rear-view camera, heated front seats, and more.
