Fifty years after the Jaguar E-Type made its North American debut at the New York Auto Show, the British car company will be highlighting the 2011 edition with the global debut of the 2012 Jaguar XF and XK.
Demonstrating how the performance envelope has evolved, Jaguar will also show for the first time in North America the 2012 XKR-S, its most powerful production car ever.
The supercharged V8 of the XKR-S produces 542 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, good for 0-96 km/h (60 mph) accelerations in 4.4 seconds and an estimated top speed of 300 km/h.
For now, we don't have any additional information to report about these models, so we'll have to wait for Media Day to get all the juice.
Meanwhile at Land Rover...
Don't expect a cascade of new products and announcements from Jaguar's sister company, Land Rover. Rather, the New York show will serve to present the complete 2012 Range Rover Evoque line, starting tonight with a private party for hundreds of potential customers.
Kicking off the vehicle's global launch campaign, called 'Pulse of the City', the event will feature five New York City icons, including Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis.
