Today in Mississauga, the automaker announced a makeover for the new Versa hatchback, which will be picking up design cues from the Nissan Note, currently sold in Japan and other overseas markets.

The Note, available in Japan from September on and in Europe starting early 2013, is a sneak-peak at what the Versa hatchback might look like. That’s because the two models both share the same V-platform, although the Versa’s features are geared towards North and South American markets.

With 7,014 vehicles sold so far this year, the Versa is the best selling car in its category, outstripping its main rivals the Honda Fit, the Toyota Yaris, and the Mazda 2. Nissan will disclose additional details about the new Versa as the model’s launch date nears.
