This is the year of the truck for Nissan. No fewer than 6 trucks have been introduced over the last 18 months. From the compact X-Trail to the gargantuan Armada and QX56, Nissan has gone from zero to hero in some of the most competitive truck segments in North America.

The X-Trail is Nissan's answer to the Honda CR-V; their dimensions are very similar and they even look alike. It is powered by a 165 hp 2.5L 4-cylinder engine and can be mated to 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

Next up is the X-Terra. Officially launched in New York last year, the New X-Terra retains many of the angular styling cues of the original. Its frame and engine are shared with the Frontier. The 4.0L V6 develops 265 hp and is available with a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The interior has been upgraded although the plastics remain cheap looking.

The Frontier pickup has grown in size in almost every direction. This new chassis now makes it a more interesting purchase, as it is now capable of a larger payload and thanks to the 4.0L V6; it now has more towing capacity.

The Pathfinder is also all-new for 2005. It has been on our roads for a few months already. It is also powered by the 4.0L V6 but this time, it has 270 hp. The only transmission is a 5-speed automatic and Vehicle Dynamic Control is also standard.

The all-new Infiniti M35/45 has been introduced in Canada for the first time. Its exterior styling is contemporary and is sure to please. The list of standard features is long and includes 4-wheel steering. There are 2 power plants available for the M. The first is the 3.5L V6 found in the G35. It develops 280 hp. The M35 can also be ordered as an AWD. The M45 is endowed with the Q's 4.5L V8 that grinds out 345 hp. Pricing for the base M35 is $54,800. The AWD is of $58,300. The M45 retails for $64,400.  It will be in showrooms by the end of February 2005.
