I just read an interesting story on the Boston.com website. Craig Fitzgerald wrote about the death of the compact pickup truck.
I must say that I totally agree with his line of thought. These vehicles sold well for a good number of reasons including their high grade of versatility as well as a low purchase price. As Fitzgerald points out, it was often an individual's first new car purchase.
Of the entire article, the conclusion is most telling. I bet he's right when he essentially states that history will repeat itself. I'd buy that for a dollar.
In a weird twist of fate, moments after reading this story, I came upon the picture of the butchered Civic Coupe originally posted a few years back. Look safe to you?
Please Ford, Mitsubishi, General Motors, Mazda, Nissan, keep or bring back the compact pickup truck!
