According to Reuters, BMW and Hyundai are exploring a partnership to develop new engines. The two automakers would split R&D costs for 3-, 4-, and 6-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, which reportedly amount to nearly $2 billion.

Chung Eui-sun, the son and heir apparent to Hyundai chairman Chung Mong-koo, was recently in Munich to meet BMW's top brass, or so said Automobil Produktion, without citing sources. A BMW spokesman declined to comment on the report.
