The most powerful Ram 1500 ever

Meet the all-new Ram Rebel TRX concept, the fastest and most powerful half-ton truck the company has ever built. This extremely capable machine can hit 100 mph (160 km/h) in an off-road environment with the help of a 6.2L supercharged HEMI V8 producing 575 horsepower.

That’s 125 horsepower more than the newly announced 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, by the way.

New calibrations were used for the engine, the 8-speed TorqueFlite 8HP70 automatic transmission, and the drivetrain to optimize the expected high-speed off-road driving cycle. The Rebel TRX concept uses Ram’s 4x4 Performance Control System with a BorgWarner 44-45 transfer case. The system employs different modes of operation: Normal, Wet/Snow, Off-road and Baja.

Interestingly, the high-strength steel frame structure of the Ram Rebel TRX concept is virtually unchanged when compared to a standard Ram 1500. The frame uses low-torsion attributes that increase durability, stability and handling precision. However, a 40% increase in suspension travel (over 13” at all four corners) and 37” tires together contribute to incredible ground clearance. Also, the truck is 6” wider.

“With 575 supercharged horsepower and a suspension system built to withstand an all-day hammering, the Rebel TRX concept can devour the roughest terrain at more than 100 miles per hour and never look back,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global.

As for styling, although it is clear that the line and colour combinations are borrowed from the popular Rebel and Power Wagon models, the Ram Rebel TRX sports a much more chiseled look.

The company says it will use this design and engineering study to gauge consumer interest. How excited are you?
