The DeZir concept is Renault's latest electric car prototype. DeZir, which you can read out as desire, is meant as a window into the storied French brand's future design language. Penned by Laurens van den Acker, his first project, the DeZir certainly can be said to be inspired by existing supercars such as the uber-hot Audi R8.

This car is the first of a sequence of concept cars that lays the foundations for the styling cues of Renault's forthcoming vehicles. Although the DeZir's silhouette is striking, without a doubt, it's the car's opposite-opening Lamborghini-scissor-style doors that capture the most attention. We can safely assume that we will not see these crazy doors on a production car any time soon, however, we recall when gullwing doors we said to never return to a mass (more than a handful) production automobile...

What's really telling about the DeZir is that it is a performance electric car, much like the Audi e-tron and other concepts from car manufacturers. We certainly can live with the combination zero fossil-fuel consumption and mad acceleration numbers.

The public will get its first opportunity to see the DeZir in its sensual flesh at the 2010 Paris Motor Show from October 2nd to the 17th.
