At first, the very idea of an SUV from a longtime exotic car manufacturer sounds pretty strange, but the information posted by the British magazine tells a surprising story.

Instead of using Porsche's V6 and V8 engines, Lamborghini is reportedly considering its good old V12 for this new model.

It's not the first time the Italian company works on a premium SUV. From 1986 to 1993, the LM002 hit the scene as a military-spec Hummer lookalike. Despite its controversial design, it delivered supercar levels of performance while offering a spacious interior.

One unidentified source explains: ''Lamborghini is entirely credible as an SUV maker, but it can’t do it alone. And as Porsche has shown it already knows how to do it, it makes sense to work together.''

In the event of a Lamborghini-Porsche agreement, don't expect the latter to influence how V12 supercars are developed in Sant'Agata Bolognes. Senior sources at the VW Group claims that they ''will always be protected and done in house''.

What do you think? Would a Lamborghini SUV compromise the brand's image or give it a competitive edge over such rivals as Ferrari?
