Not to unleash a radical new concept, but most drivers of premium SUV's don't utilize their off-road abilities beyond the odd gravel road or slushy department store parking lot.
Make no mistake though, the Porsche Cayenne was developed from its onset to be a sophisticated off-roading tool. But customers who need the space and convenience of an SUV and the handling and performance of a Porsche will soon be offered their own special model. The German automaker has announced that they will soon present a street-tuned Cayenne called the GTS at the Chicago Auto Show.
It's intended to be the best handling Cayenne yet- and the performance isn't going to be slouchy either. Cayenne GTS packs a 405 horsepower V8 engine that's based on the powerplant in the Cayenne S. Owners can hook it up to an automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual, which is fantastic. With a road-slicing suspension and 21-inch wheels, it sounds like this Cayenne GTS is going to be a whole lot of fun.
Pricing starts under $70,000 USD.
