Yet another version of the Ford Mustang is hitting the streets. This time, it’s a first-ever collaboration between Roush and Shelby that results in a one-of-a-kind 2011 Mustang, called the SR-71. Inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird, a USAF long-range reconnaissance aircraft built by Lockheed Martin, this Mustang will be hand-built in Michigan by Roush.

It will feature Recaro racing seats with embroidered signatures of Jack Roush and Carroll Shelby, a flat gray paint job with red striping, flat black SVT Track Pack alloy wheels, red-painted brake calipers, a glass roof, a racing steering wheel, a Ford Racing performance gauge cluster, a roll cage, an absence of rear seats as well as custom badging on the instrument panel, sill plates and floor mats.

Under the hood, the SR-71 gets a 5.0-litre V8 as well as a supercharger with Ford Racing calibration and Roush intake, a Ford Racing handling pack and a Ford Racing tuned exhaust.

The SR-71 Mustang will be shown and auctioned off at this year’s AirVenture, an annual show held by the Experimental Aircraft Association. For the last three years, Ford has provided EAA with unique auction vehicles that have raised over a million dollars for their Young Eagles program.
