Yesterday, Toyota announced that models from their youthful and energetic Scion brand will be migrating north to Canada for 2010. The highly-customizable lineup is currently sold in the USA and overseas, and aims to capture a younger buyer than does a typical Toyota model. Toyota says that Scion models forge a fit between "car" and "community", and that they'll be on sale here in 2010.

"Young Canadians have been telling us they want SCION, and now their desire is within reach. SCION is an authentic brand, created to mesh with youthful tastes and sensibilities, and we're excited to expand our presence in Canada with new vehicles that offer a unique blend of flexibility, personalization, affordability and fuel efficiency," said Larry Hutchinson, Director of Toyota Canada Inc. "The time is right to bring SCION culture to Canada."

SCION's unique approach to marketing allows shoppers to investigate the vehicles on their own accord through special events and a highly-interactive website. The models are huge on personal expression, and available with a massive slew of options and accessories for owner customization.

Initially, three vehicles will be available in Canada from the brand. An exciting compact sport coupe called the tC will be joined by the xD and xB- a compact and flexible hatchback and an odd looking, squared-off five-door wagon, respectively.

Initially, SCION models will be sold at existing Toyota dealerships in major cities before sales advance through several planned stages of growth.

"SCION is a unique brand, yet still a member of the Toyota family so it benefits from the same high standards as our Toyota and Lexus lines," Hutchinson added. He also notes that in the United States, about 70 per cent of SCION buyers are new to Toyota, and over fifty percent of SCION owners migrate to a Toyota vehicle as their needs and wants evolve.
