When Spyker Cars bought Saab from GM, everybody knew what part of the plan was. And now they’ve just officially announced it.
Spyker will double the number of dealerships this year by selling their model range through existing Saab dealerships. A total of 60 Spyker dealers will be up and running by year’s end, up from 35, and could increase to 90 in 2011.
Spyker, which sold 36 cars last year, and according to Bloomberg, have been losing money since 2004, seeks to make the brand profitable by offering more sales points.
Only one Spyker dealer is currently doing business in Canada, and is located in Calgary. There are no details yet on how many Saab dealers in Canada will be re-opened, if any.
Spyker produces the C8 Aileron and the C8 Aileron Spyder, both of which are powered by a 400-horsepower, 4.2-litre V8 engine. The Dutch company claims a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds for the hardtop model.
