Just a year after Subaru re-designed their controversial looking Tribeca SUV, the 2009 model is set to hit dealerships with a competitive new pricing strategy and equipment that are sure to build on its success.

The latest generation model sees a larger engine cranking Subaru's legendary symmetrical All Wheel Drive system through an automatic gearbox. The Tribeca is available in a 5-passenger model, a 7-passenger Premium Package with leather, and a 7-passenger Premier Package with leather, navigation, and rear-seat DVD entertainment.

The base model vehicle sheds $2,000 from the 2008 MSRP, now coming in at just under $40,000. The Limited Package now offers more standard equipment like a DVD entertainment system and back-up camera, though the price is unchanged from last year at $45,195. Tribeca Premier Package features the same equipment as last year's model- though the price has been axed some $4,300 to $48,195.

All models boast a fantastic looking and futuristic interior layout, plenty of storage and a responsive and powerful boxer engine. A 3.6 litre unit, this mill generates 256 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft of torque while delivering low emissions and appreciable fuel efficiency. Variable valve timing and a five-speed automatic with sport-shift allow for an optimized blend of power and efficiency.

"The new-generation Tribeca has set new sales records almost every month since its introduction, thanks to the enhanced features and striking new design," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, President and CEO of Subaru Canada. "The 2009 version builds on that momentum by retaining all the qualities consumers appreciate, and adding an extra level of the luxurious appointments that are the hallmark of SUVs in this segment-all at very aggressive prices."
