Ford and Azure Dynamics have started delivering the very first Ford Transit Connect Electrics to clients in North America and the UK, part of a demonstration and promotion initiative preceding the official launch scheduled for April 2011.

AT&T, Southern California Edison, Xcel Energy, Johnson Controls, the New York Power Authority, Canada Post and the Toronto Atmospheric Fund will all be receiving their orders, and the public will soon be seeing Ford’s brand new EV in action.

Fourteen Transit Connect vehicles are currently en route to the UK and will be used in a government demonstration program for low-emission vehicles by Scottish and Southern Energy.

The Transit Connect Electric is a 100% electric vehicle ideal for companies whose fleets travel predictable distances over well-defined routes and who can recharge the vehicles in a central location. The Transit Connect Electric can travel 128 kilometres on a single charge and is the first electric vehicle marketed by Ford.
