That’s a news story title. Any new Porsche is always newsworthy. The new Porsche Cayman is newsworthy news, especially when it’s somewhat of a scoop. Check out our post on our supercharged V12 blog for pictures.

Now, I know why my friends at Porsche were asking me earlier this week at our Auto123.com Awards shindig if I was going to the L.A. Auto Show. They’re going to be unveiling the new, next-generation Porsche Cayman on the heels of the latest 981 2013 Porsche Boxster.

The new 2014 Porsche Cayman is expected to undergo the same treatment as the Boxster did; meaning it will lose some weight, gain a stiffer platform and some power.

The 2.7L flat-6 that will get the base Cayman going, will generate an expected 275 hp while the S will benefit from the 3.4L flat-6 and its 325 hp. In both cases, output numbers are 10 up on the Boxster.

Porsche sales are doing well worldwide, and the coming of the next Cayman is a good thing.

As far as styling is concerned, from the little we can see, I’d say it’s going to be another knock-out punch from the gang in Stuttgart. I must say that the 2014 Porsche Cayman’s hindquarters don’t look great, however, in the picture the lighting and the angle are not very flattering.

Full details and official unveiling will take place on November 28th, during press days at the L.A. Auto Show.
