No flux-capacitor necessary: the rear-wheel-drive Transition is powered by a 100-hp Rotax engine via a CVT transmission. That may not sound like much, but thanks to its carbon-fibre composite and lightweight steel construction, the Transition weighs only 992 lbs (450 kg), and can reach highway speeds of up to 105 km/h.
It's equipped with all the safety features of any road-going vehicle, including airbags, bumpers, horn and turn signals, but with the added protection of a recovery parachute for any airborne mishaps.
Of course, when the going gets rough, the Transition pilot has the option of landing — and reaching his destination safely on terra firma.
