Let's be serious
But rejoice, there are solutions! Yeah...

And these are:

- Move to another planet;
- Go hide in the woods (not where they log industrially since they might not make the difference between you and a tree);
- or...

Real solutions for drivers ...and others

...you can, with simple, concrete gestures, do your part. For instance, there are many informative Websites about what you can do as an individual. But first...

What is the goal to reach?

Well, will you say, I don't mind doing my part, but then again, what is it? How much do I have to reduce my consumption of fossil fuels if I want to be part of the effort of reducing green gases and pollutants?

Good question. The answer can be:

A) You reduce your green gas emissions by 6% under the level of 1990, which is what has been ordered to Canada by the different countries involved in the application of the Kyoto protocol. Since we collectively have increased our emissions by 21% since then, it means that we have to reduce our emissions by 22.3%.

B) You reduce your emissions by 50% from the level of 1990 which is what scientists recommend to stabilize the global warming trend. We have to realize that the Kyoto protocol has always been considered as a small first baby step towards stabilization of our green gas emissions. We have to do a lot more. Since we have increased them to 21% over 1990, it means that we have to reduce them by 58.8%, which is, I will admit, quite an order.

To help you in your quest, I suggest 4 web sites.

The one-ton challenge of the federal government

First, I would suggest that you visit the federal government's Website under the one ton challenge at: http://www.climatechange.gc.ca/onetonne/english/subscribe.asp You then will be able to calculate your present level of emissions so that you will have a better idea as to how to diminish them and by how much. However, there are some points that are not taken into consideration that you will be able to find with the help of:
