Toyota has catapulted us into the future of the automobile with the Fun-Vii concept, a veritable smartphone on wheels, revealed in the ramp-up to the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show.
The concept’s moniker clearly announces the automaker’s intentions, Fun-Vii standing for “Vehicle, interactive, internet.”
The Fun-Vii seats three and is eminently customizable. The body is literally one big display, allowing drivers to change the car’s colour to suit their mood and even broadcast messages.
Inside, useful information is displayed through the use of “augmented reality.”
Toyota says the Fun-Vii’s various software can be regularly updated via the Internet, just like a computer. You can even control some of the car’s functions remotely with a smartphone.
Beyond the tech factor, safety is also a priority for the Fun-Vii concept. The car can, for instance, detect vehicles in blind spots as well as other potentially hazardous vehicles.
